(ECNS) -- The Annual Report on the Development of China's Study Abroad 2013, released Tuesday, shows that over 60 percent of the surveyed overseas students cited living conditions in China as their primary concern when considering returning, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.

Other main concerns include complex interpersonal relations, inadequate living quality, sky-high housing prices, and low salaries.

The survey, conducted among Chinese students in the US from December 2012 to May 2013, shows that 36.3 percent of students are certain to return after graduation, 42.1 percent say they may return, and 9.7 percent have no intention to come back.

About 800,000 overseas students have returned in the last five years, almost three times as many in the past 30 years. A total of 272,900 students returned last year, up 46.56 percent year on year, according to the report.

The report also shows an increasing number of younger students studying abroad. Around two-thirds of them were top students in their classes.
