(ECNS) -- Ahead of Qi Xi, or Chinese Valentine's Day, parents of Chinese Americans desperate to see their children get married are turning to online dating websites, according to the World Journal (US).

Many Chinese Americans stay single because of their careers and limited social circles, said Chang Xiaoping, who has extensive experience in matchmaking. "Parents are often more eager than their children, and even the parents of a 22-year-old girl came for help," she said.

A Chinese American named Cindy said most of her colleagues were registered on matchmaking websites. The sites are an expansion of my personal social circle and a way to meet more people, "but it is also necessary to meet people in real life," she added.

Emily, another Chinese American, who found "Mr Right" online, said the websites eliminate some incompatible candidates automatically, making the matchmaking more targeted.
