Two Chinese 'likely' killed in Thai bus crash

Bangkok (CNS) -- Two Chinese people may be among the deceased victims of a fatal car accident in Thailand's Saraburi province.

The accident took place when a double decker coach collided with a truck early Tuesday morning.

Gao Zhenting, Counselor and Consul-General of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, said two Chinese bought tickets under Thai people's names, and that those names were on the list of victims killed in the accident.

They have also lost contact with their friends since Tuesday, Gao added.

It is highly likely that the two people were killed in the crash, he added.

Gao said he has called on Thailand authorities to investigate the identification of the suspected Chinese victims, and carry out DNA testing.

If the identifications of the two people are confirmed, the embassy will inform their families and relatives to come to Thailand as soon as possible, Gao added.

A total of 19 people were killed, and 20 others injured in the accident.
