Tibetan monks bicycle around Qinghai Lake

Qinghai (ECNS) -- On Sunday, five Tibetan monks broke with tradition by riding bicycles around Qinghai Lake, a "sacred lake" for followers of Tibetan Buddhism in Qinghai province.

The monks, who usually walk and kowtow around the lake, said that they choose cycling to accumulate merits and virtues, and increase blessings.

The monks from Huangnan county, in the Hainan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, also said that cycling saves time.

Sunday marked the fourth day of their worship trip around the lake.
