(ECNS) — Southern California in the US is experiencing a new round of "Christmas shopping spree" as Chinese mainland tourists embark on luxury shopping, World Journal (US) reported on Wednesday.

The large influx of Chinese shoppers is helping to drive sales at many struggling luxury brand stores.

To accommodate these shoppers, many luxury stores have employed Mandarin-speaking sales assistants or put up signs written in Chinese to make Chinese tourists feel more at home.

Many Chinese tourists seem to prefer shopping over sightseeing. Some of them just make a beeline for high-end shops upon arrival, while some keep up the shopping for several days.

The Citadel outlet, which was once on the verge of closure for lack of customers, has come roaring back to life thanks to the daily crowd of Chinese tourists.

In addition to luxury brands such as Gucci and LV, Chinese tourists also target brands such as Coach, Columbia, Nike, Levi's, Puma, and Nautica.

Now, it seems that an increasing number of men are also joining the buying frenzy for luxury brands when traveling to the US.

"In some outlets, prices for American local brands are incredibly low. For some of them, the price is not even one-fifth of that in China," said one tourist from Qingdao.
