12th Shangri-La Dialogue ends in Singapore  

第十二屆香格里拉對話會落幕 中美“亞太觀”引關注

為期三天的第十二屆香格里拉對話會2日在新加坡落幕。中國人民解放軍副總參謀長戚建國在會上重申，中國將堅定不移走和平發展道路，并愿與各方一道，共創亞洲和世界的美好未來。美國國防部長哈格爾表示，美國“亞太再平衡”戰略并非遏制中國。

Beijing (CNS) – China will insist on peaceful development and is willing to cooperate with all sides to create a good future for Asia and the world, Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of the general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said at the 12th Shangri-La Dialogue, which concluded on Sunday in Singapore.

During the three-day event, Qi met and exchanged ideas on bilateral relations and issues of common concern with defense departments and military leaders from France, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam and the United States, and the EU and NATO Military Committee presidents.

On Saturday, US Defense Secretary Robert Hagel reaffirmed its "Asia-Pacific rebalancing" strategy and said that the US will take more "visible" actions to achieve a strategic shift. It includes the US 1st and 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force and the US Army 25th Infantry Division returning to their bases in the Pacific theater, according to the US Department of Defense's website.

During the process, the United States will strengthen its relations with China, India and Indonesia, Hagel said.

The US welcomes and supports a prosperous and successful China that contributes to regional and global problem-solving, he added.

Defense ministers from the United States, Japan and South Korea also discussed the nuclear crisis on the Korean Peninsula.

The Shangri-La Dialogue, hosted by the International Institute for Strategic Studies, has taken place every June at Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore since 2002. Currently it's one of the largest and highest-ranking multilateral defense and security forums for the Asia-Pacific region.
