廣州市婦聯相關負責人29日表示,過去三年,廣東逾2506名女童遭遇性侵犯,其中近半在14歲以下,性侵女童者65%是熟人。未來廣州將針對女童及家長發放萬冊“防狼手冊”。
Guangzhou (CNS) -- Guangzhou will issue handbooks to girls and their families in an effort to prevent sexual molestation of children, according to the local women's federation on Wednesday.
Statistics released by the federation show that 2,506 girls in Guangdong province are known to have been sexually molested in the past three years. Of those cases, 65 percent of the offenses were carried out by acquaintances of the girls and their families, and more than half of the abused girls were under 14 years old.
A lack of self-protective awareness by girls and their families was the major reason behind the abuses, according to a survey conducted by the federation.
A project aimed at protecting girls from sex offenders has already been passed by the municipal government of Guangzhou. Under the project, a total of 10,000 prevention handbooks will be dispatched in the city.
The project will also provide a platform for parents, teachers and the rest of society to join hands in building awareness of the problem. Safe-sex education programs are also to be held.
