(ECNS) — More than 500 valuable cultural relics from Tea-Horse Ancient Road went on display in the "Tea City" of Pu'er in Southwest China's Yunnan province on Wednesday.
A horse pack, a powder shotgun, a copper pan and a three-stringed instrument are part of the special exhibit.
Tea-Horse Ancient Road, an old commercial passage, can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907), or even earlier. And tea was recognized as the most important commodity traded along the path.
In March, the ancient road was identified as a state-level key cultural relics protection unit.
The ancient pathway is an important and rich channel for cultural transmission in human history, Mu Jihong, a professor at Yunnan University, said at the exhibit.
Mu is the one who named this ancient road and has been dedicated to promoting culture related to the road.
"The relics on display are reflections of our past lives, which were once ignored, and will provide us with a new perspective of viewing history and culture," Mu added.
