Deep-dive submersible Jiaolong passes inspection  

蛟龍號通過驗收 中國躋身世界載人深潛先進國家

蛟龍號載人潛水器研制和海試項目當天通過專家驗收，標志著中國已系統掌握大深度載人潛水器設計、建造和試驗技術，實現從跟蹤模仿向自主集成、自主創新轉變，并躋身于世界載人深潛先進國家行列。

Beijing (CNS) – China is now ranked among countries with advanced deep-diving submersible technology, as its manned deep-diving submersible Jiaolong passed the acceptance check by experts on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology.

At a meeting held by the marine technology office under the 863 plan (the national high technology research development plan), a team made up of 15 experts from Tsinghua University,Shanghai Jiaotong University,the Chinese Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (CSNAME), and the China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) conducted the check and inspection of the submersible.

Compared with the same type submersible in other parts of the world, Jiaolong has the largest depth capacity and reliable projected maximum depth. It is also leading in acoustic communications, automatic controls and great depth operation.

Jiaolong will be transferred to the China Ocean Mineral Resources R&D Association, and contribute to the exploration of deep sea mineral resources, and deep-ocean research.
