Hong Kong (CNS) -- The mainland's tourism administration held a promotion for "Beautiful China: China marine tourism year 2013" in Hong Kong on Thursday night.
The administration led an alliance of tourism departments from Hainan and seven other provinces and municipalities to introduce sea trips and travels by Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway.
A series of activities will be held at Hollywood Plaza and Citywalk during the next four days.
Philip WH Yung, JP, Hong Kong's commissioner for tourism, said Hong Kong will also open more cruise lines to attract more mainland visitors.
China announced in 2012 that mainland tour groups taking cruises from Hong Kong to Taiwan can visit Japan or South Korea on the same journey before returning to the mainland.
There were 34.9 million mainland visitors to Hong Kong in 2012, accounting for 75 percent of total arrivals, and 78.7 million Hong Kong visitors came to the mainland and spent $10.9 billion, according to official figures.
