(Ecns.cn)--Some buyers of a second home must spend half or more of their monthly pay on their mortgage, starting April 8, says a regulation by the Beijing Housing Fund Management Center on Sunday.
The Notice on Differentiation of Housing Fund Individual Mortgage Loan says that the mortgage payment for a second home buyer, whose wage is three times or more above the average monthly salary of all employees in the city, shall not be less than 50 percent of his/her monthly income, and meanwhile shall not be less than his/her monthly housing fund deposit.
The policy also raises the minimum down payment from 60 percent of the total price of a second home to 70 percent. Mortgage loan interest rates must not be lower than 1.1 times the base interest rates for home buyers who have already taken out mortgages.
