世界衛生組織1日發表聲明說，中國國家衛生和計劃生育委員會已經向該組織通報了經過試驗室檢測確認的3例H7N9禽流感病毒致人感染病例情況。
The United Nations (CNS) -- On Monday, the China Health and Family Planning Commission notified the World Health Organization (WHO) of three human infections of H7N9 avian influenza.
The cases have been detected recently in Shanghai and Anhui province. Two of the people have died and the other is in critical condition, according to the commission.
All three cases have demonstrated respiratory tract infections progressing to severe pneumonia and breathing difficulties.
To date, no epidemiological link between the cases has been identified. An ongoing investigation has so far revealed no further spreading of the virus among 88 people who had contact with the infected.
The WHO is in contact with the national authorities and following the event closely. It said it will issue updates as new information becomes available.
The WHO has also affirmed China's swift response to the event.
The Chinese government said it is actively investigating the infections and has instituted enhanced surveillance, laboratory strengthening and training of health care professionals for detection, reporting and treatment.
