Giancarlo del Monaco's ‘Othello' to stage at NCPA

中國國家大劇院一年一度的歌劇節(jié)將于4月中旬拉開大幕，開幕大戲威爾第歌劇《奧賽羅》的導(dǎo)演再次花落意大利歌劇導(dǎo)演強卡洛，這是他繼《托斯卡》、《漂泊的荷蘭人》和《羅恩格林》之后四度與國家大劇院合作。

Beijing (CNS) -- The National Grand Theater's opera festival will begin with Giancarlo del Monaco's version of Verdi's "Othello" from April 11 to 14.

It will be the fourth opera for the Italian director to stage at the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA).

The director, whose father has performed "Othello" 427 times, said he wanted to create a complicated new version, with scenery from the Venice and Cyprus of the period.

Wei Song, the Chinese tenor who played Othello in Shanghai in 2004, will reprise his role in this production.
