27日,首個簽約落戶重慶的云計算數據中心項目“太平洋電信(重慶)數據中心”正式開業運營。重慶也是這家亞洲最大的獨立電信服務提供商繼香港、深圳和天津之后布局“云計算”機房的第四城。
Chongqing (Ecns) – Chongqing's first cloud computing data center project, the Pacific Telecom (Chongqing) Data Center, officially opened Wednesday.
The southwestern municipality is the fourth city with a cloud computing data center funded by Asia's largest independent telecommunications service provider, following Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Tianjin.
With a $150 million investment, the Pacific Telecom (Chongqing) Data Center covers an area of 68 acres, and its annual output is expected to reach 400 million yuan with an operation scale of 40,000 servers.
At Wednesday's ceremony, Chongqing Governor Huang Qifan said that in 2012 Chongqing made "cloud plans" in order to be competitive in the future. The city has already developed a world-class equipment production base in just three years, he added.
Cloud computing is the fourth revolution in the IT industry after mainframe computers, personal computers and the Internet. It is the use of computing resources (hardware and software) delivered as a service over a network.
