Guangzhou (CNS) -- Total trade volume between Guangdong and Africa increased 68.3 percent in the first two months of 2012 compared to the same period last year, according to Guangzhou Customs on Wednesday.
Trade volume between the south China province and African nations reached US$7.47 billion in the two months.
Guangdong's demand for energy products and resources imported from Africa has been on the increase, while traditional manufacturing products from Guangdong meet demand from African markets.
Among all African countries, South Africa contributed the most to the increased trade volume. Between January and February, the total export and import volume between Guangdong and South Africa reached US$5.3 billion, accounting for 71 percent of the total.
South Africa, Nigeria and Egypt are now the three top trade partners of Guangdong in Africa.
