Guangzhou (CNS) -- More than 200 students at the university town of Guangzhou, Guangdong province, have been infected by the Norovirus since the beginning of March, according to the provincial center for disease control on Sunday.
The Norovirus, a kind of infectious virus, can be transmitted by person-to-person contact.
Norovirus infection is characterized by nausea, violent vomiting, watery diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
After the outbreak of the epidemic, local health departments and university authorities have worked together to disinfect the university town.
The epidemic has been brought under control, according to Yang Zhicong, deputy director of the center for disease control.
No outbreak of Norovirus infection has been reported outside the university town.
The infected students are now being treated in isolation.
