日前，鳳凰古城4月10日起將收取148元門票的消息引發熱議，有網友質疑其是一種“強制消費和變相漲價”，景區的“門票經濟”也遭到詬病。專家建議，國內景區不應局限于門票的“小賬”，而著眼于城市產業發展、經濟增長的“大賬”。

(CNS) -- The announcement by a county in central China that it will charge for entry to a famous ancient town has aroused public dissent.

Tourists to the Fenghuang town in Hunan province will soon be required to buy tickets allowing them access to the town, according to the announcement on Tuesday.

But some have complained that the new charges will frustrate many visitors who have no interest in all of the attractions.

It's a trick, because the ancient town is worth a second visit, but the other spots are not, one netizen said.

A report by People's Daily said the higher fees will impact the public image of the historic town. Another report by Xinhuanet.com said the fees deprive consumers of their rights at a time when the central government is calling for discounts at tourist attractions.

Zhong Xiangping, professor at Zhejiang Gongshang University, said the West Lake model, which has opened all of its scenic spots for free, provides a successful example. Local governments should consider a city's overall development, rather than partial profits, he added.

The old town is currently free of charge, but visitors have to pay 148 yuan to visit spots such as the former residence of famous writer Shen Congwen, as well as another 108 yuan to visit the neighboring mountain.
