剛剛從全國“兩會”履職歸來的姚明14日獲頒上海體育事業白玉蘭終身成就獎金質獎章。而在姚明、劉翔之后，上海體育局希望通過體育優秀苗子庫的建立，培養更多世界級優秀運動員。

Shanghai (CNS) -- Yao Ming was given the Magnolia gold medal for his outstanding contributions to Shanghai sports on Thursday.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred in 2011 by the Shanghai sports authority when Yao announced his retirement, but given to him yesterday. The magnolia is the city flower of Shanghai.
"The gold medal only represents the past, yet a lot has to be done in the future," Yao said.
As a Shanghai brand, Yao Ming's roles include being the boss of the Shanghai Men's Basketball Club, a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and an alumnus of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
