(Ecns.cn) -- The China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) imposed a fine of 1.4 million yuan on Sun Life Insurance in February, according to the commission's website.
In February, CIRC announced a total of 64 citations, and Sun Life Insurance topped the monthly list with its big fine. Falsifying expenses is still a common method of operation among insurance companies, information from the website showed.
CIRC began inspecting the business practices of Sun Life Insurance in 2010. The company was fined 1.4 million yuan for falsifying expenses, using insurance items and rates not in accordance with approved provisions or filing terms, untrue business information and deceiving policyholders, the insured or the beneficiary.
In February, falsifying expenses, cash funds, and false invoices were the top three problems, according to CIRC.
Meanwhile, the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China was also named on the February list for one of its branches selling insurance products without a license.
