為全面掌握中國地理國情現狀，滿足經濟社會發展和生態文明建設的需要，中國國務院決定于2013年至2015年開展第一次全國地理國情普查工作。
Beijing (CNS) -- The State Council announced Monday that China will carry out its first national census on geography.
The survey is for laying out the actual geography of the nation and to better serve the economic and social development and construction of the environment.
The survey, which will be done from 2013 to 2015, will take into account the human and geographical elements in all areas across China. Natural elements include the terrain, vegetative cover, and bodies of water, and human geography elements include settlements, infrastructure and transportation.
The target date for the census is June 30, 2015. Preparatory work will be done from July 2013 to June 2015, and data will be reorganized, analyzed and published from July to December 2015.
