Shanghai Museum unveils Qinglong Town relics

上海博物館6日首次在上海市青浦區青龍鎮遺址考古發掘現場，對外披露此次考古發掘中取得的“重大新成果”：發現唐宋房屋基址、水井、灰坑、鑄造作坊、磚砌爐灶等建筑遺跡，出土銅、鐵、木、陶瓷器等近2000件。

Shanghai (CNS) – The Shanghai Museum on Wednesday announced for the first time the archaeological discoveries made at the Qinglong Town ruins in the city's Qingpu District.

The findings include architectural monuments such as houses, wells, pits, brick stoves and workshops from the Tang and Song dynasties (960-1279), and nearly 2,000 pieces made from copper, iron, wood and porcelain.

As Shanghai's earliest port for foreign trade, Qinglong Town stood out as a wealthy settlement. Its prosperity was compared to that of Hangzhou, capital of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), causing it to be dubbed "little Hangzhou."

The excavation at the ruins began in 2010.
