Drought parches 67,000 people in Shanxi  

山西南部發(fā)生旱情 67萬人受災(zāi)5萬人飲水困難

記者4日從山西省民政廳獲悉，1月份以來，運城、長治、臨汾部分地區(qū)缺少有效降水，造成67萬人受災(zāi)，5.1萬人飲水困難。

Taiyuan (CNS) -- A total of 67,000 people have been affected by the current drought in Shanxi province, according to the provincial Civil Affairs Department on Monday.

Lack of precipitation in Yuncheng, Changzhi and Linfen has led to drought in the region since the beginning of this year.

A total of 51,000 people have limited access to drinking water, the department said. About 67.2 thousand hectares of crops have been harmed, causing a direct economic loss of 82 million yuan (US$13.1 million).

The local flood control and drought relief office has issued an emergency notice on implementing disaster relief.
