Hohhot (CNS) -- The fact that the Kangbashi New Area in Inner Mongolia has been called a ghost town is not totally a bad thing, a local official said on Wednesday.
Gao Zhihua, head of the Kangbashi New Area Administration in Ordos, made the remarks during an interview at the first session of the 12th Provincial People's Congress, a meeting of the local legislature.
The allegations might attract tourists to Ordos to see what it really is, and they will find that Kangbashi is not empty, Gao said.
Every city goes through a development process, from infrastructure to improvement of public facilities, during which population increases gradually, Gao said, adding that Kangbashi is no exception.
The area, which has a population of nearly 100,000, aims to triple its residents by 2025 and become a livable and modern city, he said.
