Stephen Chow skips CPPCC ceremony  

周星馳缺席廣東政協開幕大會 委員直言“遺憾”

廣東省政協十一屆一次會議開幕大會23日下午在廣州舉行，最受外界關注的新任委員、香港藝人周星馳缺席，這讓不少政協委員直言“令人遺憾”。

Guangzhou (CNS) -- Hong Kong comedian Stephen Chow was absent from the opening ceremony of the first session of the 11th Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Wednesday.

Chow, who was recently appointed to the CPPCC, followed procedures and requested leave from the event, which was approved by the committee secretariat.

Chow will attend the meeting after the opening ceremony, the committee said.

Kent Tong, another actor turned CPPCC member, expressed regret about Chow's absence. "However, Chow is not the only member who asked for leave, so people shouldn't make a fuss about it," he said.
