Xiamen(CNS)-- Mo Yan's winning of the Nobel Literature Prize shows that Chinese literature is no longer being overlooked, according to an expert at a symposium held in Xiamen, Fujian province, on Saturday.
Mo's works are world-class masterpieces that build a bridge between China and world literature, said Sun Shaozhen, a professor at Fujian Normal University.
The growth of Chinese literature needed recognition from the Nobel committee, and Mo's winning demonstrates that the international award also needs Chinese literature, he said.
Mo's winning of the prize will promote the publication and sale of books by other Chinese writers in overseas markets, he also said.
