Langfang(CNS)-- The author of a popular online cartoon called "A Bite of Peking Opera" said on Friday that she hoped more young people would get interested in traditional forms of Chinese culture.
Shi Junling, a microblogger from Langfang, Hebei Province, has published a series of 18 cartoons that combine aspects of Peking Opera with knowledge about Chinese cuisine.
"Peking Opera is not as popular as it was in the past, maybe because the younger generation thinks it is too highbrow for them," said Shi. "I just try to interpret it in an easy-going manner."
"Although the characters are cartoon images, all their facial paintings and appearances are painted in accordance with their traditional versions," Shi said.
