(CNS)-- Most of China's provinces and municipalities recently announced new policies regarding national college entrance exams for non-local students.
A total of 12 provinces and municipalities, including Heilongjiang, Anhui, Hebei, Hunan, Jilin and Liaoning, will allow migrant workers' children to take local entrance exams this year, according to the published plans.
Since most of the new rules were launched after the deadline for exam registration, eligible children can apply for supplementary registration.
Yunnan Province now allows non-local students to take local entrance exams, but still imposes restrictions on applications for universities.
The Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, which will implement its plan this National Day, has no preferential policy this year.
Beijing, Guangdong, Shaanxi and Gansu will gradually allow migrant workers' children to sit for college entrance exams locally.
The Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province reportedly haven't issued specific information, while plans for Tianjin Municipality and Hainan Province will be launched soon.
