Taiyuan (CNS) -- Former NBA player Charles Gaines said on Sunday that he had renewed his contract with the Shanxi Zhongyu (Brave Dragons) mainly because he wanted "to play with Marcus."
That would be Marcus Williams, also a former NBA player, who signed with the Dragons last year and will continue with the team in 2013.
The "Marcus-Charles" combo has become popular among fans of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), where they have both already won Most Valuable Player awards.
"I will stay and play in China as long as possible and hope to become part of China's basketball history," Gaines said.
After spending four years in China, the players still enjoy Western-style food and frequent a local pizza shop. Their girlfriends visited China last week for Christmas.
Former NBA players Stephon Marbury and Tracy McGrady also play for the CBA.
