Hong Kong (CNS)-- Hong Kong should not ignore the importance of its traditional industries while blindly supporting emerging sectors, said Hong Kong Financial Secretary John Tsang Chun-wah on Sunday.
Financial services, trading and logistics, tourism, and professional services have long served as growth engines that support the sustainable development of Hong Kong, said Tsang.
In the past decade, the four industries have grown faster than Hong Kong's economy as a whole, he said, adding that talents should find new growth points and explore new markets for the industries.
Tsang said he supports the development of new emerging sectors, but warned that exploring and fostering their development is a risky and time-consuming process.
