Beijing (CNS) -- A dozen tourism "circles" are being built alongside the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and will go into service after the project is completed, said Yu Youjun, associate director of the construction committee office.
Tourists can bicycle down the green route that links Beijing to Danjiangkou in central China's Hubei province, Yu said.
There are 12 World Heritage sites alongside the reservoir areas and route of the project, including 16 national 5A-class tourist attractions, Yu added. Scenic spots such as the Western Tombs of the Qing Emperors and Wudang Mountain can be visited along the route.
The South-to-North Water Diversion Project is a decades-long infrastructure project to divert water from the Yangtze River to northern China.
