Wuhan (CNS) -- Six government officials struggled Monday night to field audience questions during a live broadcast by Wuhan TV in central China's Hubei Province.
Since March 1 this year, 27 officials in Wuhan were made to promise publically that they would address 10 issues troubling the city, such as bureaucratic red tape and noise from late-night food stalls.
The five-day live show aimed to evaluate the progress made by the officials, who include several heads of government agencies.
The officials began the program with confidence, but soon became awkward when secretly shot videos revealed that many of the problems still existed in the city.
The 50 audience members and commentators were then asked to grade the responses of the officials.
The show is a new method of government supervision that makes officials understand their duties and fulfill their promises, said an official from the local Communist Party watchdog.
