BASIC demands climate action from developed countries

在德班會議首度“抱團”發(fā)聲后，“基礎四國”(巴西、印度、南非和中國)在多哈氣候大會上開始展開高頻合作，用一個聲音督促發(fā)達國家率先行動。

Doha (CNS) -- Brazil, South Africa, India and China (BASIC) have joined hands to push developed countries to take the initiative in combating climate change at the ongoing UN climate conference, according to a Chinese official on Tuesday.

China's top climate negotiator Su Wei stated the joint position, saying that developed countries should take action to fight global climate change based on the principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities."

Developed countries should redouble their efforts to reduce greenhouse emissions and do more to provide financial and technological support for developing countries, said Su.

Developed countries should also release the details concerning the implementation of "fast-start" funding for developing countries to control climate change, and ensure transparency in the use of the capital, Su added.

Delegates from the U.S., Japan, Australia and the EU held an emergency meeting on the implementation of fast-start funding Tuesday.
