Changtai (CNS) -- Retired cross-Strait generals at a forum on Monday marveled at the successful landing of a J-15 jet on the "Liaoning" aircraft carrier.
A total of 34 retired generals, including 16 from the mainland and 18 from Taiwan, participated in a forum on cross-strait exchange in Fujian Province's Changtai County.
Liu Dayun, a former air marshal from Taiwan, said that the mainland has improved greatly in military technology in recent years.
Army General Ding Zhifa said Chinese culture was thriving in the world, but cross-strait military technology still lagged behind the world's best.
Ding also said that China has achieved a breakthrough in the aircraft carrier era.
Former Deputy Commander of the PLA Navy Zhao Xingfa said the carrier would give the country advantages in settling maritime disputes.
