Beijing (CNS) – The total sales volume of major businesses in the capital city during the eight-day Super Golden Week reached 7.16 billion yuan (US$1.13 billion), an increase of 13.6 percent compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Beijing Commercial Information Consultation Center.
Daily earnings for Beijing businesses hit 900 million yuan (US$142 million), with sellers of digital products and household appliances coming out on top, said the center.
Total revenue for the three major electronics retailers Suning, Gome and Dazhong reached 2 billion yuan (US$316 million), much higher than that earned by gold sellers in the city during the same period, the center found.
Beijing's gold market saw an increase of about 10 percent in sales during the holiday.
