China Mobile to expand 4G testing

中國移動總裁李躍27日在北京透露，將于四季度采購明年用于100個城市的TD-LTE(一種4G制式)的設備，這意味著，目前正在13個城市進行的4G規模試驗將于明年擴大至至少100個城市。

Beijing (CNS) -- China Mobile will purchase 4G LTE equipment in the fourth quarter of this year to be used in 200,000 TD-LTE 4G base stations in 100 cities next year, said Li Yue, president of China Mobile Communications Corp, on Thursday.

China Mobile already plans to have 20,000 base stations in 13 cities operable by the end of this year, Li said.

The company launched an invitation to bid for 35,000 sets of 4G testing equipment in 13 cities a few days earlier, said a general manager's assistant, who added that 10 plans have been made to solve problems in 4G mobile technology.

According to insiders, China Mobile may have the ability to launch 4G TD-LTE services by the end of next year.
