Hainan legislates to protect ethnic culture  

海南立法保護世居少數民族文化 祭祀葬禮列其中

海南省四屆人大常委會25日審議通過了《海南省少數民族文化保護與開發條例》(以下簡稱《條例》)，立法保護世居海南省黎族、苗族和回族的10類民族文化，民族傳統醫藥、歷法、宗教、祭祀、葬禮等列其中。

Haikou (CNS) – Hainan's legislature on Tuesday adopted regulations to protect and explore local ethnic culture in China's southernmost province.

The legislation covers ten categories of minority culture, namely the medicine, calendars, regions, ritual ceremonies, languages, art, literature, tattooing, costumes and architecture that originated from peoples such as the Li, Miao and Hui.

According to the regulations, training and funding will be provided to protect intangible culture heritages and encourage new practitioners to keep them from dying out.
