Chongqing (CNS) -- The Liangjiang New Area of Chongqing and US conglomerate Honeywell International signed a strategic cooperation memorandum on Saturday, aiming to jointly establish an aviation R&D center in the sprawling southwestern municipality.
The R&D center will cover three main departments: aerospace, automation and automotive, said Sheng Weili, president of Honeywell China.
Honeywell will also build a manufacturing base and maintenance center focused on aerospace technology in the development zone, added Sheng.
Chongqing was chosen as a pilot location for the reform of low-altitude airspace management by the government in April, so the Liangjiang New Area has become a key zone to develop the aviation sector, said a local official.
