Sydney (CNS) -- The International Chinese Film Festival (ICFF) 2012 opened Saturday night in Sydney, Australia.
The ICFF has become one of the most distinguished and significant Chinese cultural events in Australia, said the festival's executive director Gong Lanwei.
The festival has introduced new Chinese films to Australian audiences and broadened the mutual understanding between the people of China and Australia, Yang Buting, chairman of the China Film Overseas Promotional Corporation and the ICFF, said during the opening ceremony.
This year the organizing committee has brought more than 20 films from the Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, including "Painted Skin: The Resurrection" and "Guns and Roses," Gong added.
Films will be competing for the Golden Dragon Award in the following categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor and Special Jury Recommendations.
