Guilin (CNS) – A man who has made his fortune from the exhibition industry told his tales at the third China Guilin International Tourism Expo on Saturday.
The expo, which lasted from Sept. 6 to 8, was held in Guilin, capital of south China's Guangxi Province. It attracted nearly 800 professional exhibitors from 60 countries and regions.
Liao Junshen, a Singaporean-Chinese businessman, is a regular participant at the expo. He founded his exhibition organizing company in 1982 after quitting his job at a British company.
"Competition in the Shanghai exhibition industry was fierce in 1980 when I first started my business there," he recalled. Liao then left the Chinese market and turned to Southeast Asia where his business began to flourish.
Liao came back to the Chinese Mainland in 2000, and has held regular exhibitions with local governments and organizations since then.
Besides cooperation with Guilin, Liao has also teamed up with the Beijing Travel Committee and undertaken nine Beijing International Tourism Expos so far.
He will also join Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, to hold the Chengdu International Tourism Expo this year.
