Shenzhen (CNS) -- Shenzhen and Hong Kong customs officers on Sunday launched a crackdown on smuggling in Shenzhen, a boomtown in south China's Guangdong province.
The smugglers pass the Shenzhen-Hong Kong customs back and forth about six to 10 times a day, carrying contrabands in bags, luggage carriers or hiding in their clothes, according to an official of Shenzhen Customs.
The smuggling has disturbed the market and trade between the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong, he said.
The crackdown is part of the Customs General Administration's special campaign on smuggling initiated in January.
