Shantou (CNS) -- Marine cultural relic protection and law enforcement activities were initiated Tuesday by the provincial Department of Culture and the Ocean and Fishery Bureau of south China's Guangdong.
The two departments signed a memo of cooperation and law enforcement officers carried out emergency drills.
The cooperation will help standardize marine cultural relic management and protection, said an official with the bureau.
Guangdong's 419,000 square kilometers of sea area is home to many relics, including the famous shipwrecks of Nanhai I and Nanyue I.
