中國到加拿大不列顛哥倫比亞省念中小學的“小留學生”們,繼續成為各大資金拮據教育局的救命稻草。
Toronto (CNS) -- Young overseas Chinese students continue to be a boon for the education sector in British Columbia, Canada.
In Vancouver alone, there are 645 Chinese kids enrolled in primary or high schools during the 2012-2013 school year, accounting for 60 percent of the city's total overseas students, said Kurt Heinrich, spokesman for the Vancouver School Board.
They bring in 8 million Canadian dollars annually, Heinrich added.
In the city of Richmond, 425 Chinese students study at local high schools and 600 are participating in short-term exchange programs, said Song Chunling, from the Consulate General of China in Vancouver.
Chinese parents spend big money for their children to get a good education and gain a global perspective, which promotes the growth of Chinese students in Canada, said Song.
