單霽翔：故宮博物院應成為世界五大博物館之一

“英國大英博物館、法國盧浮宮博物館、美國大都會博物館和俄國艾爾米塔什博物館是公認的世界四大博物館，但無論以任何標準進行評價，故宮博物院與之相比毫不遜色，故宮博物院應該成為世界五大博物館之一。”北京故宮博物院院長單霽翔日前接受中新社記者獨家專訪，就此予以詳細論述。

Beijing (CNS) – The Imperial Palace will be one of the top five museums in the world, along with the British Museum, the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Hermitage Museum, Shan Jixiang, director of the Imperial Palace, told CNS Monday.

Collections in European and American museums come from all over the world, while 80 percent of the collections at the Imperial Palace are passed down from the Qin Dynasty, Shan said, adding that the architecture of the Imperial Palace is the canonical representative of eastern architecture.

The Imperial Palace received more than 14 million visitors in 2011.
