Chengdu (CNS) -- A field research team photographed a wild giant panda cub playing in a tree 3,000 meters above sea level at Wolong Nature Reserve, Sichuan Province on July 12. The image of this one-year-old giant panda was taken to the team's camp on July 16.
The Forestry Administration of Sichuan Province sent out a research team to make what would be the fourth investigation of a giant panda sighting since last October, covering an area of over 2.5 million hectares.
It is rare to see wild giant pandas during their research, vice team leader Gu Xiaodong explained why they have only seen four this year. On the afternoon of June 20, the team members found a giant panda taking shelter from the rain by hiding in a tree.
