Huaihe River basin struggling with decade’s fiercest flood

淮河流域沂河發生10年一遇較大洪水

中新社北京7月10日電 (記者 劉辰瑤)國家防總10日發布消息，淮河流域沂河當天出現洪峰水位達61.73米的較大洪水，為近十年來最大洪水。國家防總采取防汛Ⅳ級應急響應。

Beijing (CNS) -- The water level in Yihe River rose to a high point of 61.73 meters on Tuesday, setting a record for the decade, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters has announced.

Heavy rains have pounded the Huaihe River basin region since July 5. The average  rainfall in its major rivers reached 141 mm, with the largest daily volume of water, some 441 mm, descending on Liyi City.

The state authority issued a response plan at 10 a.m. Monday , preparing for rigorous inspections and defensive measures for the regional water conservancy projects, including activating diversions of the fierce river flows to the Yellow Sea.
