London (CNS) -- The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd. (COMAC) and the International Airlines Group (IAG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the Farnborough International Airshow 2012 on Monday local time.
The MoU includes items for cooperative effort: technology and operation requirements, regulations, financing, and client and product services for the former's C919 large passenger aircraft.
IAG CEO Willie Walsh addressed the crowd at the signing ceremony saying that he has been following the development process of the C919 since 2008 when COMAC was founded and is convinced that COMAC will become a competent manufacturer on par with Boeing and Airbus.
The world's largest airlines company, IAG, was created by a merger of British Airways and Spanish Iberia Airlines in 2011. It owns a number of airline sub operations each with fleets of large 150-seater planes.
