Official denies shrine's IPO dims religious nature  

四大佛教名山上市被疑圈錢 普陀山稱只涉及實體企業

中國四大佛教名山競相上市，引發媒體質疑各名山有借宗教之名圈錢之嫌。浙江舟山市普陀山風景區管委會主任蔣志偉4日在接受記者采訪時回應稱，上市只是將索道、酒店等實體企業跟外圍幾家企業組建成普陀山旅游發展股份有限公司進行上市，跟宗教本質無關。

Hangzhou (CNS) -- Putuo Mountain, a Buddhist site located in Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, is making an effort to get listed on the capital market within two years.

The news aroused public discussion about whether it is proper for religious venues to turn into high-profile commercial entities via initial public offerings.

A local official in charge of the scenic spot, Jiang Zhiwei, responded by pointing out that only enterprises offering tourists such services as dining, accommodations,transportation and so on, will be integrated into a group for the proposed listing, and the move doesn't compromise the essentially religious nature of the site.
