Handan (CNS) -- Multiple explorations of Handan Ancient City in Hebei Province has yielded a large number of pottery pieces and bricks from the Warring States Period, the city's Bureau of Cultural Relics disclosed on June 30.
Just 420 km from Beijing, Handan Ancient City was the capital of the Zhao State during the Warring States Period, and was technically composed of Zhaowang City and Dabei City. Established in 386 BC and destroyed in the late Qin Dynasty, Handan is now a cultural unit under national protection.
The unearthed relics reveal layers of the profound culture of the Zhao State, and provide rich materials for historical research, said Wang Xing, director of the bureau.
