Hong Kong (CNS) -- University heads from the Chinese mainland and their counterparts in Hong Kong vowed to walk side by side along the path of internationalization.
Presidents or vice presidents of 17 universities on the mainland and 12 HK universities agreed to step up education exchanges and forms of cooperation in scientific research, formalizing it on June 28 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
The central government will set up a special fund to promote two-way exchanges starting in 2013. In addition to the activities, each year 2,000 Hong Kong students and teachers will be invited to study or do research at universities on the mainland, and 7,000 students and teachers will have the chance for short-term exchanges during summer vacation periods.
