中國駐卡爾加里總領事劉永鳳20日在此間接受記者專訪時表示，到目前為止，中國公司在阿爾伯塔省開采的油氣資源基本未輸往中國，而是以市場價格在當地出售。

Calgary (CNS) -- Chinese companies are exploring oil and gas resources in Alberta and selling it locally at market prices rather than transporting it to China, admits Liu Yongfeng, Consul General of China in Calgary, Canada.

Liu said many people question or misunderstand Chinese investment in the energy sector. Some have even argued that Chinese enterprises, especially state-owned ones, are investing in Canada with the aim of controlling local natural resources, and the moves are potential threats to the country's security.

But actually, the Chinese companies that target Canadian resources are motivated by the market, said Liu, the companies just go where they have the benefits of doing business.

China has become Alberta's second largest trade partner.
